As I was driving to school the other day, a song came on the radio that said, "Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to go now." I'd heard this song plenty of times, even sang along. But this Wednesday morning, I actually thought about the lyrics. "Nobody wants to go now." Well...I do! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not morbid, nor am I totally in love with the idea of death, but I am crazy excited about Heaven. Can you imagine singing with the angels and living in a home that my Heavenly Father prepared for me (John 14:2)?! Sounds pretty perfect to me. Of course, there are things on this earth I enjoy: cookie dough ice cream, the beach, and church camp are just a few. But all of these things pale in comparison to what's waiting for you and me in our eternal home (Romans 8:18). I think Paul says it best in Philippians 3:20; "But our citizenship is in Heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." These earthly bodies weren't made to last forever, and that can be hard to fathom while we're here in this world full of cute puppies and chocolate milkshakes, but also full of sin. I think it's important to take a step back before we make any decisions, and realize that this life is like mere minutes compared to eternity, but the choices we make here will affect our lives after this. We need to do everything for the glory of God; whether that be simply sticking up for that kid who you always see getting bullied, or putting your reputation, or even life, on the line for what you believe (1 Corinthians 10:31). So next time you're in the car jamming out, or picking out your workout playlist, try singing, "This world is not my home, I'm just a-passing through, my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue..."
