Find out what my favorite month is and why here. For basically the whole month of July, I will be constantly surrounded by people who share the same beliefs as me. All of my focus will be put on praising God and growing spiritually (which it should be like that all the time, but I tend to focus on other things [I need to work on focusing more on God]). I will learn more about God's endless glory and I will teach others about Him. I will have a lot of wonderful opportunities to further Christ's cause. Because of all of these things, July is my favorite month.
In less than two days (July 5th), I will be heading south to Freed-Hardeman University for my favorite church camp. I will be surrounded by thousands of people who are striving for the same goal, to obtain eternal life (Romans 2:7). When I am there, I feel like I'm surrounded by a force field that causes Satan to lose more often. I get encouraged when I overcome temptation and beat Satan. Horizons is a very uplifting camp. If my spiritual battery is running low, spending a week worshiping God with my brothers and sisters in Christ causes my battery to be overfilled with energy. When I come home, my desire to further Christ's cause is always magnified and I love it. July is when my faith grows the most. My faith develops into a deeper form of true faith. True faith is sure, has suffering, and has sacrifice. "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6). In order to have a true faith, you have to be sure. You have to believe that Jesus is who He says He is and you have to have a solid belief in what the Bible says. "Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin" (Hebrews 11:25). By having a true faith, you will have to suffer. Satan will try his best to make your life as miserable as he can. He wants the children of God to fall away from God and those who have a strong and true faith will fall into various trials (James 1:2,3). "By faith Able offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks" (Hebrews 11:4). We have to offer our best sacrifice. The best sacrifice that we offer to God is our life. If we devote our life to God, we will have a true faith. We have to sacrifice our life (spiritually) with our whole heart. Cain probably didn't offer his sacrifice with his whole heart and God was not pleased with him. In order to be pleasing to God, we have to devote ourselves wholeheartedly. By having a faith that is sure, has suffering, and has sacrifices, you would have a secure salvation. I don't know about you, but having a secure salvation is very important to me. When my spiritual battery runs low, my true faith grows a little weaker. The month of July helps me recharge my battery and causes my faith to grow stronger than ever before. Strive for true faith. Don't let your battery run low and cause your faith to grow weak. Surround yourself with the children of God to recharge your battery. You're not alone. By: Jennifer Odom
