True, you are just one woman. But imagine how much just you can do. You are just one woman. You will more than likely never become president, never be a billionaire, or never become a famous movie star. You are just one woman trying to make it in a sinful world of 7 billion people where what you do doesn't seem to make the slightest bit of difference. You are just one woman. What difference do you make? You might not do something because you think "I am just one person, I can't make a difference in history, whether it be spiritual or physical." Let's take a look at Esther and see what difference she made.
In the beginning of the book of Esther, King Ahasuerus dethroned Queen Vashti. He is looking for a new queen and it just so happens that Ahaseurus noticed and loved Esther more than all the other women that came through, so Esther became the queen. In chapter 3, the King passes a decree that Haman wrote to kill all the Jews because of Mordecai not bowing down to Haman. There's one problem though, Esther is a Jew and the king doesn't know it. Eventually in chapter 8, Esther saves her people. Esther had saved all of the Jews by herself and yet, she was just one woman. We sing a song at church camp and I believe it's far more than a perfect reminder as to what was done for us. It goes like this: "Your only Son, no sin to hide. But You have sent Him from Your side. To walk upon this guilty sod, and to become the Lamb of God. Your gift of love, they crucified. They laughed and scorned Him as He died. A humble King they named a fraud, and sacrificed the Lamb of God. I was so lost, I should have died. But You have brought me to Your side. To be led by Your staff and rod, and to be called a Lamb of God. Oh Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God. I love the Holy Lamb of God. Oh wash me in Your precious blood, till I am just a Lamb of God" This is why we stand up. We stand up for Christ because He died for us. Standing up for Him is the very least we can do. One woman can make a GREAT difference in the Lord's church. A woman can raise her son/s to be a strong and faithful Christian to lead. Sadly, we are running low on women willing to take seriously the job to raise the next generation of faithful men to lead. A woman can speak at a ladies day, she can lead a devotional in a girl's cabin at a church camp, she can lead singing or a prayer when no men are around. A woman can do all these good things, but at the same time, one woman, by her poor example, can be that one domino that falls and takes the rest down with her. "A little leaven leavens the whole lump" (Galatians 5:9). Everyone needs to do their part so that way the church can function properly (1Corinthians 12:12-27). God has not stopped looking for that one woman. He is searching everyday. God is looking into our hearts and people are watching our actions. God and people need to see a strong, faithful woman of God. Could you be the one woman that God is looking for? The principles to be that one are in His Word. Some of the many characteristics that we need to have are found in Proverbs 31. Some of them include: virtue, faithfulness, goodness, strength, endurance, well rounded, honorable, wise, kind, and has a fear of the Lord. He is telling us the kind of woman He wants us to be. That is the kind of woman we should be, the kind of woman we need to be, the kind of woman we have to be. We have to be a soldier of the cross. We all need to be that one woman. So, are you going to fill those shoes? By: Jennifer Odom
